I'm on my way to the United States today. It's as a guest of the State Department in one of their international visitors programmes, aiming to show people the different dimensions of the country.
And you thought the only programmes the US government had for Muslims involved orange boiler suits. Maybe I should wait till I get there before typing this.
Seriously though, I'm really looking forward to it, as I did not otherwise think of visiting the US anytime soon, despite it being possibly very interesting.
Apologies for the lack of blogging action over the last few weeks. It's been a particularly hectic time on a number of fronts, and attempting to clear my desk before departure didn't help either. Hopefully I'll be sharing some thoughts about my trip as it unfolds.
That depends on their being wireless connection in America. I'm told they're quite technologically advanced, so there's a fair possibility. It also depends though on the wireless connection on my dodgy Dell laptop holding up. The machine is fairly new, the recent XPS M1330 model. Whenever anyone sees it, they remark on how lovely it looks. It has been plagued with nothing but problems since I got it though.
The trip is going to take in Washington, New York, Dallas, Seattle and Santa Fe.
I'm coming over at an exciting time. Super Duper Tuesday is next week and the Super Bowl XLII is tomorrow!

Goan yersel Osama, self-appointed leader of the tartan Ummah. Dont forget to point out to your infidel hosts that all that feminism, equality and freedom of expression nonesense is so yesterday.
Enlighten them in the useage of stoning, limb amputation, female genital mutilation, rule by koranic edict. and polygamy.
7th century Arab mores are the future!
PS// Make sure you behave yourself on the flight, dont want to be giving your pet Dhimmi Salmond a showing up, do we ;-)

Freedom to mouth racist insults in public isn't freedom of expression - its anti-freedom, it's anti-democracy, its racism.
Racists don't believe in democracy or freedom - they believe in exploiting the weaknesses they see in liberal democracy and taking advantage of these supposed weaknesses to claim their racist abuse has something to do with supporting and defending 'western values'.
In the same way Goebbels exploited the weaknesses in the democracy of his day to spread his evil poison - he also claimed he was a champion of the west against foreigners from the east.
Have a good one Osama!
ps
I haven't watched my recorded game of the Superbowl yet, and have been trying to stay away from the news so as not to spoil my enjoyment -
- but I do believe the NY Giants kicker plays a strong part in the outcome of the game.
Who would have thought somebody fae Greenock would figure prominently in America's biggest sporting occasion?
pps
Bobby Thomson of the NY Yankees was from Glesgae and he is an America baseball legend!
