Muslim beds to face Mecca
The Daily Express and Daily Star have claimed that nurses have been ordered by the NHS to turn the beds of Muslim patients towards Mecca. It's caused "havoc", "chaos" and is "political correctness gone mad". Except it's not true.

I think part of the problem is that the average Brit/Westerner doesnt know a thing about Islam or it's practices, and hence, can be sold any bill of good.

But of course The Mail is now claiming that they didn't twist the truth beyond recognition, no. Quite clearly, the hospital's second press release actually constitutes a climbdown. The link is very long and getting caught by your blog spam catcher, but it's posted on the Daily Terror (linked under my name on the comment)
Reader's comments on the DM are actually quite mixed, but inevitably include such gems as "Send them to Saudi Arabia for medical treatment."
To be honest, Mid-Yorshire Trust should have known better. The BNP are very active in Dewsbury and have no doubt had a hand in fanning this little fire. The original press release was very open to mendacious misinterpretation, IMHO.
