'Stop the car, there's Madeleine': Witness sees her dragged by Muslim woman

A tabloid's dream today with the a Madeleine McCann story intertwining with an opportunity to bash Muslims.

The Daily Mail took the bait, choosing to describe the Moroccan woman who was carrying a blonde child (incidentally it is confirmed now as not being Maddy) as a "Muslim woman". Like it's a shock to find one of these hijab wearing people even in Morocco.

Why wasn't she just described as a "woman"? Or if further description was absolutely needed, a "Moroccan woman"? What's her faith got to do with it?

There is either some racism here or ignorance, or a shade of both. Do they not know that there are Morrocans that are blond?

They seem to think that the people of the MENA (Middle East North Africa) are all dark skinned, dark eyed and dark haired peoples.

They'd be surprised in Jordan, Syria and Palestine where you'll find people with blond hair and blue eyes that are as white as George Bush, or Kurds with fire engine red hair and blue eyes.

i agree - "some" folks do think that everyone from MENA are dark. but what's worse - they also think they are all muslims and related to OBL! ok, generally speaking and loosely used - for effect only.
