Quite rightly, last week's news of the attack on a Muslim Algerian woman and her baby in Glasgow has repulsed everyone.
She was walking in Yoker when a gang of four started throwing stones, kicking, and shouting abuse at her. One then sexually assaulted her. He then attempted to also indecently assault her one year old baby. The woman managed to rescue her child, fleeing the scene. Police later recovered her pram and headscarf.
The attack marks a new low. The police have described it as a racially motivated crime. The Scottish Executive last month released
statistics showing a rise in racist assaults (looking at the figures,
they happen to spike particularly around the time of the July bombings - it's clear that there is a new type of prejudice that is brought about
by the global terrorism situation). Attacks have been increasing, not just in number, but as we can see,
they are getting worse in their nature.
With this background, it's easy to see why a group of businessmen came forward with a £10,000 reward to catch the pervert who did this. The only thing that could be worse than the fact this has happened is if no one is caught and prosecuted for it. The message has to go out that this kind of thing will not be tolerated.

Salam
MashaAllah! That's really good to hear, Sidi. May Allah reward you immensely.

Asalaamu alaikum, I have moved from opinionated Voice to Radical Muslim so please update your link if neccessary, and keep in touch too.
On a side note, the above is a terrible think, I will link to this.

Its sad to see a monetary reward is being used to encourage witnesses/passers by to come forward. But if it works, and leads to some form of a result, then its better than nothing.

On the subject of your blogroll, I must regret to inform you that Abu Sinan has shut his blog down...

What was the evidence that it was racially motivated? I'd have thought the motivation was sexual, by the looks of it.
Clearly, it's a terrible crime but I don't see that it's much worse than the sexual assaults that take place in Glasgow every day.

Ted, the police don't normally rush to say a crime is racially motivated, so they must be pretty sure of it. Have you any reason to doubt it?
George, that is sad news, any idea the reasons why?

Yeah, I saw it was the police that said it. I just wondered what was their evidence for thinking that. They must have used racist insults during the attack but I don't think that's enough to say it's 'motivated' by race. It was motivated by her being a woman, first and foremost, I'd have thought - like Farrah Noor Adams. The police tie themselves up in knots at times, in my view. Still, a terrible crime.

Re closing down of Abu Sinan's blog, his wife's http://majlismanal.blogspot.com/>blog seemed to indicate him being busy with other things and reprioritising. Not sure if he'll be resurrecting it anytime soon.

Sumera, Abu Sinan's course of action sounds tempting!
Ted, from what I understand of the course of events, the gang approached her to carry out a racist assault. The sexual nature was a byproduct of it, albeit by only one of them. The police have indicated that the other gang members could well be revulsed by that aspect of it, particularly on the baby.

I understand now, Osama. The press reporting on this has understandably been restricted.

The sexual attack would not have happened if she and her children were modestly dressed. By dressing like she was, she was inviting men to commit adultery.

So you endorse the attack do you, Keith? You are a sick creature who ought to be beaten within an inch of your life.
