[John Reid] said the interior ministers wanted to use the internet and other media to target young audiences with messages from "secular Muslim" role models, rather than those believing in radical ideologies.

At least the government have come clean about its agenda, finally. How long before a minister mentions The Rand Report?

What is wrong with Reid's statement? Anyone know?

It really depends on what people mean by the word "secular".

Is there such a thing as a 'secular Muslim'?
That looks to me suspiciously like an oxymoron, along similar lines to -
- 'military intelligence'
- 'Tony Blair isn't a liar'
- 'Mission Accomplished George Bush knows what he's doing'
- 'Tony Bush and George Blair aren't responsible for the mass-murder of well over 500,000 Iraqis (so far)'
- 'Spending £6.5 billion to wipe out over 500,000 Iraqis in order to bring them democracy has been taxpayer's money well spent'
- 'British troops haven't been deliberately put in harnms way for a bunch of lies about Iraqi WMD and Saddam's links to some guy called Ally Cheeda'
- 'PFI is money well spent and shows how inefficent public sevices are run in comparison'
(http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6090234.stm>PFI schemes 'will cost NHS £50bn'
ps
whatever happened to that Scottish Office PR Campaign about promoting 'multicultural Scotland - it seems to have completely vanished off the face of Scotland only just recently?

Allow Reid to fire blank bullets since the virtual war may prove to be less embarrassing then in reality.
Ever wonder "What’s next"? A bulk text message.

The choice put above is breathtaking. Either you're a secular Muslim or one believing in radical ideologies. And in the context of terror, only the secular ones are decent.
Will be fascinating to see what people Reid goes on to promote.

I'm reminded of this article about "Islamic Muslims" (discussing comments made by Senator John Kerry in the run-up to elections):
