America is not a fascist state, although there is a danger there of a growing fascist movement, which the Bush administration is trying to use for its own ends (much as Weimar-era German conservatives thought they could use Hitler against the Communists).

If this story is true, we now have a right royal selection of those who seek to cause all of us permanent anxiety out there, there's the American lot, and the home grown East London - Izzadine and Chaudhury.
Let's be under no illusion, whichever way we look they're all at it.
And then there is Sadat. Anxiety and terror? No. Just laughable.
