It's a measure of how successful the American occupation actually is, according to Ronald Dumsfeld not to long ago - the more attacks on 'coalition forces'
(ie just the UK and US now )
then the more sucess and progress there is in Iraq!

Actually, it's worth mentioning that the statistics have shown this for some time, when we were still being told that the resistance was an anti-Shiite purge:

The BBC chart is useful for updating this, since it clearly shows that the al-Askari mosque attack, which was supposed to result in widespread sectarian conflict, had nothing like that effect.
