Dual nationality

Chimage "Foreign criminals" have been in the news recently, but what do we mean by "foreign"? According to this week's Socialist Worker (via) if you have dual nationality, it could be you.

Saqib Almas is being deported to Pakistan even though he is a British citizen, because he also has Pakistani nationality.

This is going to be a major issue moving forward. A good percentage of expat and second generation Asians have dual nationality. And as I've previously warned, the government seems hell-bent on having the power to deport as many people as they can.

The latest twist in the sorry tale of the UK government's media-dictated crackdown on "foreign criminals" involves a British-Pakistani dual national, who did time for what his sister describes (in Socialist Worker, so far the only newspaper to report t... [Read More]

Unbelievable!! More proof of the dual track systme of justice operating in Britain, one rule for Muslims, one for everyoen else. Just check out the case of Mirza Tahir Hussain.

They wouldn't do anything for him for 18 years while he was left to rot in a prison in Pakistan facing the death penalty, all because he was a dual national.

Mirza is someone who was commended for his performance in the TA, yet being British enough to die for Britain was not British enough for Britain to save his life.

Only now after much pressure from human rights groups and campaigners has Britain intervened but even then Mirza has only been given a 1 month reprieve.

These cases of Saqib and Mirza are a clear indication that that maroon passport which people all over the world beg, steal, lie and kill for is not worth anything if you're a Muslim.

Quite right, he should be deported. It is questionable whether he should have been given the passport in the first place.

It is questionable...

No it isn't.

Unbelievable the way the government is going. What goes around comes around, Mr Blair...

By the way, nice blog Br Osama, I enjoy reading it. I've linked it to mine - hope you don't mind.

It's not just about Muslims, even the Bishop of Rochester holds dual nationality ie British / Pakistani. All of these people need to make their minds up. It matters not to me which way but to hold both is a Cricket test failure and one such cause of your suggested Islamaphobia.
PS: This applies to any dual nationality, Kenya took the view of one nation in 1974. Nuff said.
