Warning to everyone with dual nationality

If you have dual citizenship, the Home Secretary has a Bill going through Parliament at the moment which would make it as easy for him to take away your British national status as it is for him to remove foreign nationals themselves from this country. This will apply even if you were born in the UK. See the Guardian for more on this.

This has slipped totally under the radar as the attention has gone on the 90 days saga. But it has terrible implications for the Muslim community. I know so many people who have taken citizenship of Pakistan as a safety option in the wake of the rise in Islamophobia in this country over the last few years.

I've always thought that this was a foolish strategy, just making it easier to push Muslims out of this country. We should be working harder as a community to challenge and dampen Islamophobia instead.

I know it's difficult when spending resources trying to tackle outrageous legislation every few weeks, but needs must.

To all those people who have taken citizenship of Pakistan I would say fight for your rights and for what you have worked so hard to build, if you must have a "Plan B" I would suggest you immediately scrap your Pakistani passport and instead get a NADRA card which is easily obtainable:
