Welcome
We face extremely tough times in the coming years thanks to Labour’s recession. I share your experiences. I have bills to pay, a mortgage to service, a wife and two kids.I am not a millionaire and understand your concerns. I’m the son of a school teacher and came through the state education system myself. I was born at the Queen Mother’s Yorkhill maternity in this constituency.
Labour have shown themselves on all the key issues to be no different to the Tories. I joined the SNP after helping organise the historic demonstrations against the Iraq war. I will as your MP put my campaigning track record into championing you. Chief of my priorities will be opposing public spending cuts, which Labour are promising will be "deeper and tougher" than Margaret Thatcher's. Labour MPs have shown over the years that they will not stand up to their party whips on post office closures, delinking pensions and earnings, and taxing the poorest in society. Glasgow can't afford even more cuts, and so we can't afford Labour MPs. What should be cut though is the £100bn on new nuclear weapons on the Clyde, and the £18bn for the ID database. The money should be spent on worthwhile and long overdue projects like high speed rail which would bring Glasgow’s economy closer to London and Europe, as well as help the environment. Labour’s current MP is standing down, and they want you to vote for his son. This makes it an ideal time for new political leadership in Glasgow. The SNP were only 136 votes behind Labour in these constituency boundaries last year, and I ask for your support to take them over this time. When you enter the polling booth you will not be voting for Gordon Brown or David Cameron. You're voting for you MP, your representative in Parliament. So on May 6th, don't just vote for a politician, elect a local champion. Yours for Scotland, PS Welcome to my website - please browse around the different sections.
